Winters last Great Act of Defiance!!!!

We woke to a winter wonderland..... we must have gotten around 5" inches of snow last night. It was big Lucy Flakes as my sisters and I call them. Reminessent of Lucy catching them on her tounge. It is wet and heavy and will not last because we will be at 70 degrees by tomorrow (golf day).

Jan 25th update......... Sitting bunny has been sold!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I do hope that you all had a wonderful New Years celebration and are ready for the joys and trials of the new year. I want to thank each and every person who has inspired me by their kind words this past year. So many things has happened to me and I am looking forward to many more exciting adventures. I love the online groups that I belong to. WSOAPP and the members of this exciting group has given me so much in the way of fellowship and friends, and my new group "A Primitive Gathering of Sisters" promises to be an inspiration too. I love each and every one of you crazy gals and guys!
I never make resolutions but if I were going to try to do something different this year I would say that I am going to try to keep very busy and more productive this year. I want so much to create more and more. I always want to have one of my creations listed either on EBay, Etsy, or on my website. I do need to work on that. I want to fill up my site.....
I will be traveling a lot this year and you will find me here in New Mexico or in Illinois.....and I will be creating from both places. I cant wait to see what the new year has in store for all of us.... and I truly wish with all my heart that each and everyone of you have a wonderful and prosperous New Year.

Seems like the seasons keep getting more and more ahead of themselves now days. We haven't even celebrated the 4th of July and we are making witches. I don't mind..... I love making things for fall and winter. I wanted to share with you two new Lovely Ladies I have offered on EBay now. Vivica and Vinnie ..... !! What a duo these two are. I just love Vinnie... he is a hoot and a real love. Vivica has raised him from a hatchling.

Going On a Golf trip!!!!

Whooo hooo ..... I am so excited. Hubby and I are going on a golf trip to Las Vegas..... I can't hardly wait. I will post some pictures when I get back.

I have been so very sick with the cold or the flu for the past 5 days. Man oh man I don't know what kind of flu it was but I don't ever want it again. This trip is just what the doctor ordered!!!!

Fire in the Canyon

Wanted to share this picture of the canyon just south of us here on the mountain. This fire started last week and was not visable at first..... we woke to this on Sunday morning. We pray for the winds to calm and some rain to magically fall from the heavens......

I've Been Tagged!!!!

Oh I have been tagged again!!! My friend from Illinois, Tammy of Rock River Stitches got me.... I am to tell you how I got my name.

Well it isn't all that interesting but I will try to make it as interesting as possible.

You can see in the picture below where I live,... just outside of Albuquerque New Mexico.... and yes we are in the United States...... you wouldn't believe how many think we aren't. I live in the mountainous part just east of Albq. We have all around us trees that range from pinon, to all kinds of pine, to numerous cedar trees. I just happen to live in an area with a lot of cedar trees. They pop up all over..... and since I live on the side of a small hill.... and I love primitives and rustic decor.... I just came up with Cedar Hill Rustics. It took me all of about twenty minutes toying with all kinds of combinations but the end result was a no brainer! I am glad for that...... hehehe!!!! =)

Just Wanted to Share!!!!

This is the view you get when you are going east into Albuquerque.

I live on the other side of this mountain..... they call it the east mountains. This particular group of mountains is called the Sandia Mountains. At the very top is a great restaurant, and skiing on the other side. The river in the front of the photo is the Rio Grande.

The mountains turn this wonderful watermelon red at sunset.....

It is truly beautiful.

New Listing Today on eBay

I am tickled pink, blue, green, and every other color you can think of . I ordered this pattern over a month ago and it just got here yesterday. It has been on back order and it is a very popular pattern. I can see why..... it is just about the cutest bunny I have seen and everyone who has made her has done something different with her. She is suppose to be a valentine bunny but I am a bit late for that..... so...... I thought I would make her an April showers bunny. I am so pleased with the way she came together. The umbrella and flower are my addition to her, I made them myself.......!!

Something Different for Me!!!!

You know when you keep doing the same thing the same way you never grow as an artist. I have been making dolls the same way for a long time now and to tell you the truth I was running out of ideas for my dolls.

Today I tried something different. I stepped outside the circle so to speak and thought maybe I will try to make a doll to resemble the doll in the photo of the Rags to Riches logo. I just think that picture of the girl in the logo is so sweet. I just love her.

Well try as I might, I sketched it out, and made my pattern...... I just could not make her look like the girl in the photo. She is however a charming little doll and I am very pleased with the results of my efforts. I wasn't trying to make her look exactly like her....... and she sure didn't come out that way either. =) I guess I made an original doll.... but the little girl in the photo was my inspiration.

The little girl in the photo looks like royalty and my Althea did not so I had to dress her differently and give her some kind of accessory. So just in time for spring..... I gave her a robin's nest. This is what I mean about trying something different...... sometimes the doll takes on a personality of its own and no matter what you want them to be they are going to be what they want to be and that is that!!!!

I giggle sometimes to myself when these girls get head strong but maybe that is my personality coming through too.

Spring is in the air.

AAAWWWW the birds are singing and the bunnies in my yard are abundant. They were so cute the other day just running and jumping. We have a big deck off the back of the house and that is where the bunnies like to hide from the coyote's. We have also left some of the area on our property natural and let the vegetation grow so the birds and bunnies can hide there too. That is where my hummingbirds make their nest. Anyway here is my latest ..... Little Spring Lamb. It is so cute. It is a pattern from Kentucky Primitives and it is so easy, and fun to do. I have him listed on EBay.

WSOAPP Fabric Swap

Oh what fun we are having over at WSOAPP. I have just list my two items for the launch. I had a fun time with this one. We purchased two yards of fabric.... one we would keep and one we would send to our secret partner in the group. So we had two differnt yards to work with and two differnt items to make. Now it is up to the other members to figure out who matches who..... This was a great idea and everyone had a wonderful time with it. The real fun is just beginning as the listings start coming in. Here is what I came up with for my offerings.....

This is the fabric I bought and sent on to my secret partner. I made a Kitty doll I called Tess.

And this is the fabric I received to make something out of....... when I saw the purple the only thing I could think of was a Purple Cone Flower. I call her Violet........!! I think she is so cute!!

My Girls

I was sitting the other day just thinking about my dolls and from the beginning they have always been ladies I would love to meet or be friends with. It is funny how yards of fabric and balls of clay become their own personalities. I have had such fun bringing these gals to life and hopefully will have many more to come. These are just a few...........I hope you enjoy them!!!

My Newest Little Gal

I am so proud of this little gal.... she is my first attempt at painting a face on a doll. I am so pleased with the results of my endeavour. I call her Coretta, in honor of black history month and after giving it so much thought .... Coretta is what I came up with for her name. I am hoping others like her too.

I belong to a wonderful eBay group called Whispered Secrets of a Primitive Past. We are a group of gals who share the same love of Primitives and we also share a warm respect for each other. We are a fairly new group ..... only been in existence for just over four months now but we are a doing so much. Everyone is so excited about this group. We have had a major group launch in January..... and the month of February was a month long launch. We have had our ad in a major magazine and we have plans for our own web site. Welcome To My World!!!!!

Hello everyone, glad you have stopped by. My name is Mary but most everyone calls me Maggie. I live in the southwest part of the U.S.A. near Albuquerque New Mexico. I live in the mountains just east of Albq to be exact. My husband and I moved here about 14 years ago on Valentines Day. We are from the midwest .... Illinois.

Burrrr it is cold there this year.

We like the weather here.... we both golf, and the best part is that we do it together. My husband has retired from the Navy, twice.... and we have been on many adventures together and now he is on his second carrer ....... I am retired from my first carrier..... Professional Pet grooming. I dearly loved that part of my life but after almost 30 years of it my arms, hands and back just could'nt take it anymore, so I retired around 5 years ago.

Since then I have thrown myself into my other passion...... I am a Primitive Folk Artist. I have crafted most all my life and always dabbled in the art during certian times of the year. I was always making something wheather I was cutting wood for a birdhouse or sewing some kind of doll. I love to paint..... acrylics are my favorite, I also have taught myself how to sculpt dolls out of paper clay. I sell my wears on eBay and in some craft stores around the area.
